Presidential Elections

Yesterday we had elections for the next president in Brazil. The Brazilian government as a whole; is extremely similar to mine in the United States, almost identical. The only difference that comes to mind is the actual Wayne vote. In Brazil at age sixteen and seventeen you have the choice to vote; but once you are eighteen, you are required by law to vote in all elections. Unlike the United States, Brazil does not have an Electoral College, so the winner is determined by a majority. The winner for election must have at least 51% of the vote, if they do not, there is a revote with the top two politicians. Today they formally announced the revote that will happen on October 26th. Between Dilma Rousseff, who is running for reelection in hopes for her second term, and AƩcio Neves. Presidents serve a maximum of two terms, each for four years, same as in the States. The picture posted below is of Dilma the current president running for reelection. She didn't win in my state, because she is particularly popular in the north; where she faces most of her attention to getting people out of poverty. Most of the poverty in the country is I the northern part of the country so most government funding, attention, and aid goes to the north. Blog more soon.
